Mother Earth’s Sacred Treasures: Maca Root
Let’s dig deep (literally and figuratively) into one of Mother Earth’s sacred treasures: The seemingly simple and  surprisingly potent, mighty maca root. This humble little tuber has been quietly thriving for centuries, tucked away in the high-altitude Andean soils of Peru. But don't let its unassuming appearance fool you—this root has been revered for millennia, and for good reason.

The OG Maca Fans 🇵🇪👁️‍🗨️
The ancient Inca warriors didn’t just chow down on maca because it tastes like butterscotch. Legend has it they used it as a superfood before charging into battle.  Among its many benefits, Maca was known for boosting energy, stamina, and even fertility. Later, Spanish colonizers were so impressed by maca’s benefits that they used it to trade and accepted it as currency when taxing native Peruvians (resisting the temptation to climb on my soapbox here!).

What We Know Now 💊
Fast-forward a few centuries, and maca has made its way from Andean fields to the lab. Science confirms what the Incas knew all along: this little root packs a punch. Rich in adaptogens, it helps balance stress hormones. Maca is also known to enhance energy, mood, and even libido.  Why is this simple root so beneficial? When you consider all that this little tuber supplies it’s no wonder it’s a multitasking miracle.

Maca contains:
*  higher levels of calcium than milk
* B vitamins including B1, B2, B3, B6, and B12
* Minerals like iron, zinc, magnesium, and potassium
* Essential Amino Acids
* Fatty Acids
* Over 50 Phyto-chemicals
* Protein
* Healthy Carbs
* And Fiber

When to Use It? 🤷
Feeling sluggish? Need a boost without the caffeine jitters? Or maybe you're trying to keep up with a strong-willed toddler who thinks bedtime is a suggestion (sound familiar, PPSWC group members?). Maca could be your new best friend. It’s versatile, nutrient-dense, and more enjoyable than some of the horse pills I I’ve been known to torture clients with 🙂.

Where to Find It 🏬
Maca root is pretty accessible these days—you’ll find it at health food stores, online, or even in that aisle of the grocery store you always walk past because it seems too intimidating. Pro tip: opt for organic, gelatinized maca powder for better digestibility (and no, that doesn’t mean it’s jiggly for those of you who are sensitive to texture and consistency).

How to Prepare It ☕️
The best part? Maca is ridiculously easy to use. Toss a teaspoon into your morning smoothie for a nutty, caramel-like kick. Mix it into oatmeal, bake it into energy balls, or stir it into warm milk with cinnamon and honey for a cozy adaptogenic latte. Just don’t overdo it—maca is potent, and a little goes a long way.

So, there you have it: a sacred gift from Mother Earth that’s as ancient as it is relevant in today’s high-stress, go-go culture. Whether you're channeling your inner Inca warrior or just trying to survive your 3rd boring meeting of the morning, maca will make it easier.
